Gore-Tex Care Guide
A comprehensive guide to washing and caring for your GORE-TEX cycling garments to help them protect you better and last longer.
Taking good care of your GORE-TEX garments helps them protect you better and last for longer. And when you know what to do, it’s quick and easy. For almost all GORE-TEX fabrics, the care process is the same. The only exceptions are those with persistent beading surfaces e.g. GORE-TEX SHAKEDRY™ garments.
How to wash your GORE-TEX Garments
These instructions cover for GORE-TEX Active, GORE-TEX Windstopper, GORE-TEX Paclite Plus and next generation GORE-TEX Fabric with ePE.
Step 1
- Before washing, fasten the front zip and any pockets completely.
- Fasten any loose velcro flaps and straps.
Step 2
- Machine wash (105°F / 40°C).
- Use a small amount of liquid detergent. We recommend using Grangers Performance Wash.
- Don’t use powder detergents, fabric softeners, stain removers or bleach.
- Rinse twice and minimise spinning.
- Don’t wash with heavily soiled clothing.
Step 3
- Put the jacket in the tumble dryer on a low heat for 10 minutes to reactivate the DWR treatment.
How to Re-apply DWR treatment
Step 1
- If water doesn’t bead and run off after washing, you’ll need to reapply a durable water repellent (DWR).
- We recommend Grangers Performance Repel Plus, but you can use a DWR product of your choice – available either as a pump-spray or a wash-in product.
Step 2
- Following application, tumble dry your garment for 20 minutes to reactivate the DWR treatment.
- If a dryer isn’t available, iron the garment on a gentle setting.
- Or iron the dry garment on a gentle setting (warm, no steam), placing a towel or cloth between the garment and the iron.
